HP unveils Pavilion laptops with Intel Ivy Bridge chipset

HP has unveiled a range of Pavilion laptops that will be powered by Intel’s latest Ivy Bridge chipset.

The Pavilion laptops will range from 14ins to 17.3ins in size and come with high-end specifications to cater to the needs of power users.

The DV4-5000 is the smallest in the range and is set to feature a 14in HD BrightView LED-backlit display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. HP will use the Intel Core i7-3610QM processor that runs at 2.3GHz, and the laptop is set to support up to 8GB of RAM, which is user upgradeable.

HP will also include a 1TB SATA HDD and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics card with 2GB of dedicated RAM to cater to the needs of multimedia users.

In terms of connectivity, the DV4-5000 is set to feature two USB 3.0 ports, a single USB 2.0 connection as well as HDMI, VGA and RJ45 connections.

The DV6-7000 comes with a 15.6in screen that has a slightly improved resolution of 1600 x 900. The laptop boasts the same 2.3GHz Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and NVIDIA graphics card as the 14in model. The only noticeable change aside from the screen size is the 2TB HDD capacity.

Power users wanting the best specification available may be tempted by the DV6-7000. This comes with a 17.3in anti-glare display that features a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The laptop also features a slightly bumped up version of the Core i7, with a clock speed of 2.6GHz.

All devices ship with an optical drive and Windows 7 Home Premium so may be best suited to SMBs. However, enterprise specific configurations are expected to be very similar.

HP is expected to start shipping the devices at the end of April, with pricing to be confirmed. A preview is available below:
