Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 First Details Leaked about to drop

When Activision announced that the next installment to the Call of Duty franchise was going to be Black Ops 2, I naturally assumed that we’d be going back to the Cold War with the Rolling Stones blaring in the background. Now, the first official details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 suggest that I was way off base.

The next Call of Duty is going to take place in a near-future, 21st century Cold War with a terrifying new array of near-futuristic weapons, according to a leak on the game’s UK site.

website also has a trailer with what looks like a drone flying through the city, but the video is private and won’t play. My guess is that the war between the Russians and The Americans didn’t quite as cleanly as it appeared in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and simmering global tensions have evolved into some kind of fancy version of the 60’s. Near-future weapons might be best suited for multiplayer – fans and developers alike might welcome the addition of some new toys to the same CoD formula.
